I like to complain (in my head)… about people complaining. Hopefully this blog will be a bit more constructive than just a rant post. 😛 Hearing people complain makes me think how we’re never able to enjoy ourselves doing mundane things. (Yes. We take things for granted. All. The. Freaking. Time.)
Why did I start thinking about enjoyment? Actually, one friend told me about trying to enjoy his final exam. I thought that was insane; how do you go and enjoy something like that?! Then he reminded me that university is really only a few years in our long life. Why make it seem so bad, like a dark time in our life? Even university, though we pay for it, is a great privilege.
Like, for real. Do it.
If you’ve been following our Facebook posts the past few days, you’ll know that the execs have been prepping for our new promo video. We’ve been working hard, practicing (and filming, in the case of our awesome videographers) to show how awesome dancing can be. It’s tough practicing the routine several hours throughout the week, right after work, and on weekends. It’s pretty tiring. When we were practicing, I found myself comparing myself to others, and thinking “Why can’t I dance like that?”. Not fun.
It’s really tough times like that where my friend’s comment really pops into my head. Why not just enjoy the dancing and stuff? It really made a difference. In the end, I really focused more on having fun, and began to enjoy myself while taking part in the making of this film. Though it was stressful for all of us, I think we all really like how this video is coming together (HUGE CREDS TO OUR VIDEOGRAPHERS OLIVIA AND JOSH. IF YOU SEE THEM GIVE THEM A HUG. AND TREAT THEM TO LIKE, MENCHIES. OR SOMETHING.)
I guess what I’m trying to say is, if there’s ever anything that you’re really not feeling too good about, it’s always better to try and enjoy it rather than complain to others abou it. I know I don’t always get an opportunity to do certain things. Even university is really a limited time. Enjoy all the homework you have, cause there isn’t another time in your life where missing one assignment won’t make you lose your job.
I’m probably gonna need it. The IT industry is not the funnest thing in the world…
