Blog Post #5 | Where is my beach body?

The weather is finally getting better again! I don’t know about you, but I am already feeling the urge to go to the beach… It is the ultimate way to refuel for those stressful summer school courses, and heck, we live in a harbour city, so we might as well get the most out of it! BEACH! The thought of beaches naturally leads to the thought of body image. Some of us might have little insecurities that we would like to work on. Hopefully, by the end of this blog post, you will feel confident that you can own your body. where's my ABS I’m just going to admit it here, that I am terrible at sticking to a exercise/diet plan. I actually hate the word “diet” because it scares me… I am also very good at making excuses for myself to not workout. I mean, who doesn’t once in a while? =P I really wish I had the time to find the source for this image Transforming a hot-pocket-and-instant-noodle-diet into an exclusive raw green diet is difficult. Sudden changes are very hard to keep up with, and those pounds that you worked so hard shedding off may come back to you overnight. What’s better than a diet is a healthy eating habit. Now let me share a few things that various health experts have introduced. Leggo!
  1. Don’t like eating vegetables? Drink it! Throw in a handful of spinach, cucumber, lettuce cilantro, or kale in your smoothie with avocado and you’ll get lots of fibre and vitamins
  2. Drink green tea with honey instead of ice tea (or other soft drinks), less artificial sugar and a great antioxidant
  3. Try Greek yogurt instead of normal yogurt. There is less sugar and more protein! Not to mention that they are super delicious
  4. Eating slowly and enjoying every bite is the best kind of “diet”. You won’t end up eating too much and still feel very satisfied in the end
As for the lazier bums (myself included), try to be active on a daily basis. And no, it doesn’t have to be going to the gym, getting up extra early and run in the cold, or even holding certain yoga poses while cringing and trying to be quiet. It can be learning how to roller blade, hiking up the Chief to find inspiration for instagram, join summer dance classes (offered by UBC Dance Club every Monday and Thursday at Fraser Fitness Ballroom <– shameless promotion but I can’t help myself), pillow fight etc. etc.. Know of a cute guy/girl? Go jogging together when the sun is setting down. Want to see them without clothes? Go to a water park. LOL but seriously, it might just work! Anyways… the point is, you don’t always have to follow what other people are doing to get in shape. The idea is to just have a good time.
