Blog Post # 4 | Fun in the Rain

We’re into the summer break and students taking summer courses are approaching their midterms. Are you? Well regardless, good luck with your summer classes! I was really racking my brain for topic to write about and I couldn’t really come up with anything; so, let’s expand Jessie’s list from last week! Seeing as this IS a personal post, I’ll give you a short list of top things I do when I hunker down for rainy summer weather (AKA Vancouver weather) – feel free to try them out 🙂

Things Geoffrey does when it’s raining outside. In the summer. Since that’s basically just Vancouver otherwise 😛

  1. Catch up/Start a TV series: This is my chance to shamelessly plug Shameless (US)! Go catch up on Once Upon a Time, shot in Steveston, or go for other shows. I’ve been watching a lot of comedy central roasts =3=
  2. Reading list: Cliché and kind of obvious, but that’s exactly why we always forget about it. My Complete Calvin & Hobbes collection is waiting on my shelf and is dying to be read; I have my own little book list that I’d like to pursue over the summer. Nothing beats rainy day like a good book.
  3. Draw: Drawing is one of my favourite pastimes, and the great thing about drawing at home is that you just go with whatever floats your boat. If you’re new to it it’s a good skill to have; if, like me, you’ve been drawing since forever, well practice makes perfect. Experiment with new styles, browse through deviantART to see how others draw – a great way to kill time.
  4. Learn a new skill: Skills don’t have to be professional or difficult – home skills are just as important. Try your hand at knitting, writing, cooking, crafts, or some other thing. Sometimes, just learning something completely random can give you some inspiration if you’re in a rut. I’ve been aiming to learn at least 5 new recipes every summer.
  5. Learn some new KNOWLEDGE: We’re at school so much that we sometimes forget what a joy it is, actually, to know something we didn’t know before. So go learn something new, something that you’ve always wanted to be able to explain.
So those are my list of things I do when bored at home. Hey, if you want, drop by to summer dance classes and say hi. I’m always ready to chat 🙂 Your co-equipment manager, Geoff
