Food. Foood. FOOOOD. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE FOOD! I eat almost everything from sushi, to souvlaki, to shawarma. My tumblr feed is full of posts with the tag “foodporn” and using leftovers is my best-kept cooking secret. The other day, I was talking to an acquaintance and he told me that he was a vegan.  “Wow,” I thought; that must be difficult, especially living on a campus meal plan.  Although being vegan might help with Freshman 15, what about comfort foods like baked potatoes with sour cream, butter, and bacon bits?!  He said that he’s never had it, so it doesn’t feel like he’s missing out at all. What a trooper.  When it comes to food, we all have different likes, dislikes and eating habits.  With high-energy sports, cold weather, and study munchies, it can’t be easy.  There are also a whole string of deficiencies associated with restricted diets as well as risks of overdoing your self-medicating vitamin regimen.  Thankfully, no matter what kind of eating preferences you have, Vancouver is diverse and hipster enough to have restaurants that cater to all your needs! Now this is my public service announcement to everyone: to take time to care for yourself!  Being sick around midterm season is the worst. Recently one of our execs had to go vegan for health reasons. For me and for him, I’m going to challenge myself to embrace the pescetarian lifestyle for a month starting mid-November.  We’ll power through it together!  To get the nutrients I need – let’s face it, I’m never going to be able to give up sushi –pescetarian is the best I can do.  If anyone else is interested in doing this together or have restaurant recommendations, please let me know! Now I’m hungry. From one happy dancer to another, Jessie Chung – Secretary PS. This is also what LFS does to you.
