Lots of things are going on in the next month! First and foremost, UBC Gala Ball is coming up on March 9th-10th so find a partner and register for competition by February 22nd! It’ll be a blast!
Reading week is next week but please note that we will still have Newcomer B, Advanced, Newcomer D, and Bronze classes running. We will also have two guided practices on Monday and Friday to help you out with dancing.
Dance Convention is this Saturday, and we have four great workshops planned so please try to make it! If you register with another UBCDC member you get a discount (2 admissions for $15!). Everyone, no matter what your level (Newcomer to Advanced to competitive) will be able to learn something from these workshops, taught by professionals from the community!

We will be holding two guided practices during Reading Week next week! Be sure to drop by and practice your dancing with guidance from the execs… Gala Ball is fast approaching! Members of all levels are welcome to attend.

Dance Convention
Keep Saturday, February 16th open from 5-11PM for our annual Dance Convention in the SUB Ballroom at UBC! We will be having four different workshops, for the low price of $10 (that’s $2.50 per workshop!). If 2 Dance Club members sign up at the same time, you can get 2 admissions for $15. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity – everyone can learn something from Newcomer to Advanced class members and even high-level dancers from outside our club!
The line up of workshops includes:
Latin technique with Maryana Dudchenko
Standard technique with Tony Chong and Gloria Chien
Viennese waltz with Clara Shih
Ballroom etiquette with the UBCDC Execs
The workshops will be followed by a social dance in the SUB Ballroom.
Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) this year will be on Saturday, March 16th all day in the SUB Council Chambers. If you are interested in joining the executive for next year, please consider running for an executive position. All UBCDC Members are welcome to attend (please note that only current AMS members and UBCDC members have voting privileges) and vote for the executives next year. More details about nominations to come!

Registration for UBC Gala Ball
Registration is now open for UBC Gala Ball! It’s UBC Dance Club’s annual competition that will take place in Richmond on March 9th and 10th. You can register online at http://o2cm.com/forms/entry.asp?event=ubc or get a paper form from us! There are “Club Closed” events for UBC Dance Club members only, and also open events for all dancers.
