Blog Post #3 | Let’s be summer people!

Yayyy!! Second personal blog post!  The hardest part was coming up with a topic that won’t make people want to chuck tomatoes at my head later.  Have you ever had that problem when people ask you what you did over the summer and you go: OH CRAP, WHAT DID I DO? I CAN’T REMEMBER ANYMORE D: I didn’t want this to happen to me again and because I like lists, I decided to make one for you guys.

10  things to do in Vancouver to make your summer even better (in no particular order)

      1. Walk along the sea wall – Props to you if you can go all the way around the waterfront and Stanley Park without having to turn around because of hunger/exhaustion/sunburns/other needs.
      2. Visit free museums – The Museum of Anthropology or the Vancouver Art Gallery are free for students and whether you like them or not, they kill time very well and you can say you’ve at least been.  BONUS if you enjoyed it.
      3. Go to Granville Island – Lovely place for yummy food.  Maybe count the number of seagulls/Aqua Buses/crying children you see along the way!
      4. Go to 3 different beaches – AND BUILD A SANDCASTLE! My top 3: Jericho, English Bay, Spanish Banks.
      5. Cook/Bake/Find food trucks – Pretty self-explanatory.  Works for those who can and cannot cook. Banana chocolate chip muffins are the best.
      6. PLAY BOARD GAMES – For the inevitable rainy days…7 Wonders, Settlers of Catan, Alhambra, Dominion, Monopoly Deal.  Leave a comment if you have a favorite that I didn’t list!
      7. Go to a carnival/festival – Who doesn’t like a good festival?  Food, lots to see and lots of people.  A great list of them here.
      8. Find a nice patch of grass – Walk barefoot in said nice grass.  Log roll in said nice grass.  Queen Elizabeth Park (BEWARE: WASPS) or the hill behind the Pharmacy Building are great places.
      9. Watch movies on Tuesdays at Cineplex for reduced prices – I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS UNTIL RECENTLY.  Go early or you’ll end up waiting 3 hours to watch Ironman 3 haha.
      10. Learn a new dance! – I’ve been looking forward to Summer Dance Class since regular classes stopped (no joke – this is not shameless promo).  Slow fox and Samba HERE WE GO.
Even if you end up doing none of these things, enjoy the sun and please continue reading our blog because things are just getting good! From one happy dancer to another, Jessie Chung –        Secretary
