Blog Post #7 | Vlog #1 Soho!

So I’m the first one who gets to blog on our new site AND post a vlog (video + blog), lucky me eh? Forgive the bad quality video and audio, but as you can see, it was made pretty last minute. In case you can’t understand me or can’t hear me (or just can’t stand my mumbled side comments), here’s a bit of writing to go along with the vlog. (Actually, the video is a really bad explanation, read this short post anyways!) If you’ve ever been to a UBCDC event, you may have noticed that after everything is cleaned up and put away, the executives tend to disappear among loud shouts of “SOHO!” and “WHO NEEDS A RIDE?” You see, us execs tend to not eat much before events, and at the end we’re pretty hungry for some good, cheap food and bubble tea. If you haven’t been to Soho Tea Room, you should join us after one of our dances (or sometimes even classes), since we seem to go there invariably. You may be wondering if we ever get bored of the food there, but between the $8 meals and $2 fancy bubble teas, we’ve probably gone at least 15 times so far this year. Some dance club favourites for meals are the baked pork chop rice (we’ve had 6 at the table before) and Szechuan beef noodle. As for drinks, there’s all the regular bubble tea flavours, but personally I always go for one of their “Special Creations”. From triple layered slush “Traffic light” to 7-up/green apple/kiwi/peach flavoured “Utopia”, you can try a different drink every time. And if you’re feeling more adventurous, they offer “DIY Spiked Bubble Tea” with your choice of alcohol. But wait there’s more!  If you call now… actually, we’re just working on getting a discount at Soho for UBCDC members next year to sweeten the deal! Forgive me if this is starting to sound like a food blog, but I never was too good at writing interesting things 😛 Anyhow, watch the video to get a little peek of what it’s like at Soho! Signing off, Josh -Photographer
