About Gala Ball
The UBC Gala Ball is the oldest DanceSport competition in British Columbia run by ambitious student volunteers. It has evolved from its humble beginnings to currently boast a reputation for showcasing the best of BC’s dance community. In 1962 the UBC Gala Ball was established by UBC Dance Club executives as a year-end showcase for their members. Today, the event features over 200 dancers competing in over 150 categories. This competition attracts world-class amateur couples who come to compete as well as perform show dances. It is our privilege to provide the opportunity for novice competitors to dance beside some of the world’s best.
