Jason Liu

Major/Faculty: Honors in Microbiology and Immunology
Years in DC: 3
Why did you join DC? My old RA decided that stealing my soul for this club was a good idea. After 4 years I find myself leading these rascals. 10/10 no regrets.
Advice to new members? Everyone here started from 0, don’t be afraid to try something new 😉
Latin or standard? My standard looks latin-y and my latin looks stiff… so… both?
Which superhero would you be? I want to be Ironman, but realistically I would probably be Antman – simultaneously intriguing yet still somehow a letdown.
Favourite food you can’t cook? Properly portioned pasta.
Favourite Disney song? The Imperial March – because Star Wars is technically Disney no?
Describe the perfect holiday. A comfy bed, lots of food, my laptop, and a high speed internet connection.
Describe your ideal dance partner. Someone who looks so good it makes my dancing irrelevant, because nobody looks at leads anyways 😛

What is your favourite onomatopoiea? Slorp – the sound of me inhaling food.

Why did you join DC? Million posters on campus caught my eyes, had to give it a try because one of them said having two left feet is not an issue.
Advice to new members? Stop worrying, start dancing. And you’ll probably end up making awesome friends.
Latin or standard? I love standard, but my Latin is better.
Favourite food you can’t cook? My mom’s cookie. It doesn’t taste the same when I bake.

Describe the perfect holiday. Wander around a foreign city for good food and beautiful scenery, and occasionally activate adventure/survival mode whenever I get lost.

Why did you join DC? My cousin Holly told me I was going to go to UBC, and join dance club. I had no say in the matter.
Advice to new members? You don’t have to be perfect. Just try your best.

Why did you join DC? My brother joined and it looked like fun. A ‘few’ years later and I’m still around
Advice to new members? Despite the scowl I’m not that hard to talk to. Otherwise what you put into a club is what you get out, have fun, show up, and you’ll make lots of amazing memories.
Latin or standard? Depends who I’m dancing with.

Favourite Disney song? Zero to Hero: the chronicles of my transformation from high school to now.
Describe the perfect holiday. If i’m travelling, then somewhere I can be active and do lots of fun activities. If i’m at home, lots of sleep and spending time with the people I care about.

Advice to new members? If you don’t know anyone, just make friends with Jake. I did that once and now I have DC friends. (Seriously though, you will meet people. Don’t worry about not knowing anyone when you join).

Why did you join DC? Saw my grandparents ballroom dance as a kid and wanted to learn it ever since.
Advice to new members? Keep an open mind, dancing is a journey into yourself, you never know what you might discover.

Why did you join DC? Douglas got me hyped up long before we came to UBC, and the hype is legit.
Advice to new members? There’s lots of people who can help you with any questions you have, from teachers, executives, classmates, to older dance club members. The only bad question is one that isn’t asked.

Which superhero would you be? Spiderman (since he’s my brother, but don’t tell anyone)
Favourite food you can’t cook? Hand stretched noodles. I’d be way too impatient to pull them properly.
