Why did you join DC?
I already knew how tio waltz from doing theater and I decieded I wanted to learn more steps, as well as new dances.
Advice to new members?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. A lot of alumni and execs love to give unsolicited advice, and they enjoy it a lot when they can give adviced that was actually asked for!

yes I compete and pretty much every event.

Why did you join DC?
Partner dance is an incredible way to express and share with another human being to music. It totally took my heart, and ballroom was what first got me into partner dance, so after 4 years break dancing other styles, when I transferred to UBC and saw the club, I wanted to dust off and go again!
Advice to new members?
Try out all the classes and see what suits you best! Every instructor connects differently and values different aspects of dance that may speak to you. And find yourself a good playlist and some dope practice friends and let ‘er rip and have fun outside of just learning too! You deserve a break and a good time!

I was that one weirdo kid who actually liked the line dancing unit in highschool PE and it all snowballed from there, bby
Advice to new members?
Come out to socials! That’s where you’ll meet tons of new friends and get better at dancing! If you also ask anyone to give you feedback, chances are they’ll blab on and give you tons of advice! (me, I’m anyone)

Why did you join DC?
When I joined university, I wanted to try something new and familiar at the same time. I used to dance when I was younger and ballroom was a genre that I never would have dreamed of getting into.
Advice to new members?
This club is wonderful because you can commit as little or as much as you want. Come to classes, come to socials and big events, dance casually or competitively… You have a newly discovered world at your fingertips.

Why did you join DC?
I was bullied into joining by a former exec for about 3 years, I’m also rather clumsy so I figured some extra hand-foot-eye coordination wouldn’t hurt.
Advice to new members?
Don’t be afraid of going to different classes. Each instructor tends to have their own preference and approach to teaching, going to a mix of their classes can be great for developing your skills.

I’ve been doing some form of dance since I was 3, and this style of dance is one that works well with my strengths as a dancer.
Advice to new members?
Come to socials, and don’t be afraid to ask people to dance! There’s so much you can learn from other dancers in the club, and it’s tons of fun.
Do you Compete?
I competed at Club Closed Comp for the first time this year, and plan to compete more in the upcoming year

Advice to new members?
Try to learn peoples’ names. Ask questions. It would probably be a good idea to attend more than once a week if you can.
